Consumer Protection Series: Internet Safety for Children

February 22 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CST

Many children have access to the internet at home, school, or even a friend’s house, and they are often online for hours every day. Make sure you’re aware of your child’s online activities to help keep them safe. This session will discuss how to keep your kids safe while they are gaming, downloading apps, sharing photos, and clicking on links. We will also discuss laws that give parents control over what information a business can collect on a child and how that information can be used.

Instructor: Ben Merens

Ben Merens is a 40-year veteran journalist who spent 21 of those years as a talk show host at Wisconsin Public Radio. Today, he is an Outreach Specialist for the state’s Department of Consumer Protection. Ben also is a professional storyteller and storytelling trainer. He believes that everyone has the right to be heard and share their most important stories. He often states that “our stories help validate our existence and help others along their own personal journeys.
